Interactive Pulmonology Tool Available for Free in the EHR and AvoMD App
New York, NY – The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD), a society focused on COPD advocacy and evidence-based guidelines, is partnering with AvoMD, a software platform that brings clinical evidence into the workflow to help clinicians streamline decisions and save time. This collaboration with GOLD will allow pulmonologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals to access GOLD’s latest COPD treatment strategies in a digitized and more actionable format at the point-of-care and in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), as well as on the GOLD website. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide and is associated with frequent hospital visits and a significant negative impact on quality of life. Primary care physicians play a major role in caring for patients with COPD, as they monitor disease progression, exacerbations, medication adherence and individual action plans. At the same time, many patients do not receive treatment adhering to GOLD recommendations due to lack of awareness and ineffective diagnostic tools at the point-of-care (1). By partnering with AvoMD, primary care physicians, pulmonologists, and others caring for COPD patients will be able to access step by step guidance from GOLD directly in their EHR and customizable to their workflow, as a means of helping clinicians reduce COPD disease progression and COPD-related hospitalizations.
Transforming the 2024 GOLD Report into an actionable clinician tool
